Episode 10 is here, and what an episode it is! News Reporter, Kennedi Cooper joined me on the show this week, and there was a lot to unpack with her!
A native of Jackson, Mississippi Cooper’s love and impact from her hometown is evident throughout the way she speaks about the city. Jackson has truly impacted the woman that she is today, as she was able to go back after graduating college and work for WAPT News, cementing a lifelong dream. Cooper discussed the importance of her family, going in depth about her faith and compassion for others and how her family has continued to instill love for all within these aspects.
A entertainer at a young age, Cooper had a passion for public speaking and writing research papers and the affirmations from a teacher in high school, she found her passion for wanting to work in journalism.
Attending Ole Miss, Cooper was very appreciative for her time in Oxford, complimenting professors and her peers for her success and growth during college.
During her time at Ole Miss, Cooper pledged Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. The understanding of the organization came to her at a very young age, as her mother and great aunt were a part of the organization and surrounded her around that at a young age.
Months after graduating from Ole Miss, Cooper was grateful to head back home to Jackson, Mississippi and work at WAPT News for two years. She spoke very highly about her time at the station, and the ability she was given to simply help the community through her reporting.
Recently completing her contract with WAPT, Cooper is now on the rise for a next chapter in her journalism career.
Always one of the most important parts of my episodes, Cooper truly gave a great response to what advice she would give to people, and what legacy she wants to leave.
“I want people to say, she really helped me in some way, even if they never met me. Whether its leading them to Christ, helping them find a voice, or giving people the courage to step out and pursue a dream”.
