The Daylan Show
Season 5 Episode 8- Featuring Naomi Woolfolk
Ole Miss Track and Field Star Naomi Woolkfok joined me on the show this week! An native of Woodbridge, Virginia Woolfolk began her journey as an athlete at a young age, being surrounded by many great coaches growing up, Woolfolk developed the talents to be successful at a young age.
Surrounded by family, Woolfolk spoke to me about the importance of her family, and how important figures like her father have been in her life to help motivate and push her forward through life.
Her father, a pastor, set up a great topic about Woolfolk’s relationship with Jesus, but the overall importance of the relationship for a college student, and what to do when things get off track for you.
Throughout her young trials as a Track athlete, she found throwing at eight years old from a coach, and the change shaped her life for the future. Continuing to be shaped by the proper people, her peers that mostly were full with men who had daughters, these coaches elevated her life, and appreciated her enthusiasm to learn and grow.
Evolving as a talent, Woolfolk committed to Ole Miss in the later parts of her senior year of high school, with a very intriguing committing story, she knew that God was leading her for a purpose, with the intentions of still understanding how good she could be as an athlete.
Wrapping up her sophomore year at Ole Miss currently, the true happiness of the town was evident from Woolfolk, as she’s continued to thrive as a person, and move forward as an athlete. Dealing with a plethora of injuries over the last couple of years, Woolfolks spoke heavily about developing her mental health, and how hard and thankful she’s been for some of her injuries.
Discussing NIL, the future, and what's at stake for her Ole Miss career, Woolfolk's story is truly one of remark.
This is the advice she left me with, “Be present, it’s called the present because it’s a gift, and always looking ahead there's some much changing, so many people are constantly preparing for that change, and missing out on what's happening in front of them”
