Season 5 Episode 6- Featuring Michael Marcantonini
Lead Play-By-Play Broadcaster for the Aberdeen IronBirds, Michael Marcantinini joined me for episode number six! A native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Marcontinini shared one of the most incredible stories and journeys I've been able to listen to over the last five years.
Truly embedded by a great support system from his family and friends, Marcontinini spoke highly about the impact his parents have had on his life. Growing up heavily involved around sports, at the age of ten Marcantonini would attend Play By Play Sports Broadcasting Camps, and the experiences he would gain, would forever change his life.
Attending St. Joseph’s University for three semesters, he would eventually transfer to Penn State University to gain a broader working experience, and the move was significant for the direction of his career.
After finishing college, Marcantonini would go to the northwoods lead, a summer collegiate baseball league to start his career, becoming the voice of the team.
A very emotional and impactful conversation, I shared many of the same experiences with Michael, and I am so grateful that he shared his mental health journey, and authenticity he showed when sharing the in depth struggles of his life during the COVID-19 pandemic.
One of the more astonishing things was that Marcantonini was able to spend time in the Australian Baseball league, which he described as an experience of a lifetime.
As of 2022, Marcantonini has been the lead voice for the Aberdeen IronBirds, which is the High-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. The greatest joy of his career so far, he continues to use his gift and having the correct “why” at all times.
This is what he left me with, “I want people to know how much I care about what I’m doing, and the people I’m doing it for.”
“Two things, trust yourself and your gut feel, and also take a chance”
One of the most emotional, personal, and uplifting episodes I have ever done, and I’m so grateful for it. This is what “The Daylan Show” is about, like the great Jim Valvano said, “If you laugh, you think, and you cry, that's a full day”. Every episode so far has brought such a unique dynamic, truly embodying my goal for season five. Please enjoy this conversation, learn, laugh, and grow with us!
