HYDR! Ole Miss first baseman Will Furniss joined me for episode number three! A native of Nacogdoches, Texas the story of the slugging infielder, is truly one to be heard.

Playing baseball at a young age, his father Eddy, a college baseball hall of famer, Will was instilled a great preparation of baseball from his father and grandfather, who devoted everything to his success.

One of the most humble and positive people i’ve ever encountered, Will spoke much about his experience growing up in a baseball family, his decision in choosing Ole Miss, and gave a moving piece of advice for young baseball athletes:

“Don’t rush it, you have now six years to play college baseball, you can develop, so have fun, be yourself, and play hard. If you have to go to JUCO, that's ok, my advice would be to young guys, is to not worry too much. You have plenty of time, and there is no rush, enjoy the sport.”

Getting to Oxford was a blessing for Furniss, but it faced much adversity. Losing a majority of games his freshman and sophomore year, but things never matured the way he and his teammates wanted. But that hasn’t phased him or the Ole Miss team.

Speaking very highly of his teammates and staff, Furniss is very optimistic for the 2025 Ole Miss baseball season. The off-season preparation and growth has been huge for him and his teammates, setting his sights on hosting a super regional in Oxford, and continuing to have fun with the sport he loves.

Aiming to be a professional baseball player, Furniss also has his sights set on financial management and maybe being a CFO for a company, but he is solely focused on doing something he loves to do.

Here is what Will left me with, “Time management is very important, it’s a very important skill to have, so learn how to do that.” For my legacy, “The biggest thing for me is that people remembered how good of a person I was. I tried to be nice to everyone, inspire little kids to play baseball at a higher level, and be good at everything they do. It costs nothing to be nice, I try to be nice to everyone.”

Super fun episode, I hope every Ole Miss fan enjoy this!!! Please leave a like, subscribe, and comment your favorite part of the episode!!
