Season 4 Episode 20- Featuring Colin Cody
The time has arrived folks! Sports journalist Colin Cody joined me on the show for the last episode of season four! A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Colin grew up in a sports-oriented family, and his love for sports started at a young age.
Colin didn’t start his career at Ole Miss with the goal to be a journalist, but over time that would come, and the switch of majors was the best move possible. Beginning a new journey was not easy by any means, but quickly the love of talking about sports and being directly involved with sporting events would resonate with Colin.
After working many jobs on campus, Collin graduated from Ole Miss in December of 2015, and gained his first job in April working as a news photographer and editor. Colin enjoyed this role and worked for over a year, but his true aim was to work in sports.
Continuing to work extremely hard behind the scenes, more opportunities arose for Colin, and he worked in Jackson, Mississippi; Alexandria, Louisiana; and Augusta, Georgia and at major sporting events such as the Masters Tournament, World Series and SEC championship games. In 2022, WREG-TV came calling with the opportunity to come back home to Memphis to be an anchor/reporter. This allowed him not to just work closely with Memphis sports, but sports all over the country.
Colin said it has been an unforgettable journey over the last two years back home and the enjoyment of the job has never left. He is focusing on staying in the present moment and trying not to think too much about what the future holds.
This is what Colin left me with, “Take it one day at a time, do the best you can, and just keep persevering. The only thing you have in this world is your name, how you treat others and how you act. That is how people will remember you. I want to leave this world in a better way than I found it.”
Wow folks, I cannot believe that it is that time again, it seems like we just started the season, and yet here we are completely done with a historic season four. A season full of growth in every aspect of the word, and I cannot thank you guys enough for your support and for every single person that allowed me to chat with them. Thank you for allowing me to fulfill my dreams in simply helping others and inspiring people. It has been nothing short of a fantastic season, and I am so grateful for it.
Please learn, and enjoy Colin’s story. It is truly remarkable, and I am so glad we were able to finish the season with such an incredible story. Take care of yourselves folks, and I will see you soon for season number five!!!! God bless you all!
