Clarion Ledger Sports Writer David Eckert joined me on the show this week! Growing up very close to his parents, they would spend many nights watching New York Mets baseball, and his love for all sports became evident at a young age. A true passionate journalist, a reading and writer lover, he was surrounded by peers who wanted to see him succeed.

A Pennsylvania native, David attended Penn State University. During his time there, connections gained him the opportunity to work his first internship, which became his first full time job. David worked for the Nittany Lions football and hockey programs as well as doing editing work for the school paper, and his work ethic in the hardnose parts of journalism allowed him to advance in the workforce.

Working for Rivals and ON3, David gained the opportunity of a lifetime to move down to Hattiesburg, Mississippi to work for the Clarion Ledger. He gained the opportunity from a former professor who knew Phil Kaplan, who was a part of the hiring team for the job. David worked very decisively at USM, managing very close with the athletic programs.

Now working in Oxford, Mississippi, covering Ole Miss athletics, David has truly enjoyed the growth and passion of the school and town over the last two years, and his name has continued to grow through the journalism world. Continuing to work towards every height possible, David is truly enjoying his current role, and is trying to stay in the present moment and not think too far ahead about the future.

“I want people to always remember I always did my job with integrity. I never sacrificed my job for scoops or clicks. I am empathetic towards people. I try to understand why people do things and why they have the feelings they have”.

A very fun, inspiring, and warm-hearted episode. Please enjoy, subscribe, and leave a like!! God bless you all!
