The Daylan Show
Season 3 Episode 19- Featuring Michael Eaves
ESPN SportsCenter Anchor and Studio Host Michael Eaves joined me on the show this week. During unprecedented times this week, we send our prayers and love to Damar Hamlin and his family. Mr. Eaves was on air for SportsCenter the night of the event at the Bills and Bengals game. Mr. Eaves spoke to me through his emotions, discussing how a show runs when an unexpected event such as this happens and what goes on behind the scenes of the show when they have to handle situations like this.
Born in a very small town in Kentucky, Mr. Eaves talked to me about his journey of becoming a sports journalist. Wanting to be a professional athlete, he remained set on the next best thing after he realized one dream could not happen. Mr. Eaves attended the University of Kentucky and was devoted to becoming the best person he could be every time he stepped inside, quickly becoming a top student. Earning a job right after graduating college, Mr. Eaves saw no limit to his future, moving to Memphis during a very transitional and peak time throughout the city. Eaves quickly made a name for himself there and made the move west to Hollywood. Working for major sports teams in LA, Fox Sports, and Pac-12 football, Eaves became one of the top names in the journalism world, winning four Emmy awards throughout his time out west. Year number eight now for Eaves working for ESPN, his journey has become followed closely by so many. Golf, a major passion for Eaves, has been a very important part of his life and career, and he talked to me about covering the Masters, stating that it was the biggest and most pivotal moment of his career. He also spoke on very important topics for black journalists. It was an honor and privilege to sit down and chat with Mr. Eaves. Greatly done, and this journey has meant so much to me. Please enjoy, learn, and enjoy all the moments you get. God bless!
